Last night, yesterday, last week – all are over. I got some things done that I should have, but didn’t do everything I wanted to or should have done. I did some good things, I did some not so good things. I made some right choices, and some wrong choices. But for sure there was sin. There is no sense in trying to rationalize it, or make excuses. Maybe not as much sin as the week before, maybe even a lot less. But did I need God more two weeks ago than last week?
I need God for forgiveness every day of my life. And it’s a good thing He is there every day of my life. “If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us of all unrightesousness.” 1 John 1:9. That doesn’t mean I can willingly sin everday just beacuse I know He will forgive me. As Paul says, “May it never be!” (his way of saying “NO WAY” See Romans 6:1,2)
If I sin a lot, do I need God “a lot?” We need God – period! Any sin keeps us from Him. Big sins, little sins. A lot of sin, a few sins. One sin. It’s all or nothing with God.
Impossible? By my efforts, yes. But through Christ, and His sacrifice and His blood, my sins are forgiven. The little ones and the big ones. All of them. How cool is that?!
That’s the way it is with God. He wants all of us or nothing. He doesn’t want us to “play Church,” act religious, or “part time” Him. We can’t just call on him when things get really bad. Don’t worry that it might bother Him to bring Him small things. Also, don’t forget to praise Him and give thanks for the big and the little things that He does in our life every day. Big things drive us to God. Little things should also. See Philippians 4:4-6.
How much do I need God? Immeasurably! Eternally! Praise His name!
